About-Tim Reuben

About Timothy D. Reuben

Tim Reuben has spent more than 40 years resolving complex legal disputes in California’s state and federal courts and has earned a reputation as one of the most respected trial lawyers and legal strategists in Los Angeles. As the founder and managing partner of a successful litigation boutique, Mr. Reuben has handled a wide variety of matters through jury and bench trial, arbitration, mediation, judicial reference and settlement conference across nearly every area of civil law, including commercial, real estate, construction, employment, intellectual property, insurance, professional liability, and unfair competition.

Over the course of his career, he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants, individuals and companies, executives and institutions. This broad-based experience, paired with his own background as a business owner, allows him to approach mediation with the practical judgment of someone who understands not just legal risk, but real-world consequences. His clients and peers know him for his preparedness, his ability to see all angles of a dispute, and his skill in cutting through posturing to reach the core of what matters in settlement discussions.

Mr. Reuben began his career at the firm now known as Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP and went on to become a partner at Resch, Polster, Alpert & Berger, where he led the litigation department before founding his own firm in 1992. His work has included bench and jury trials, arbitrations, appeals, and complex multiparty litigation involving high-profile and high-value matters. He has represented law firms, production companies, developers, commercial landlords and tenants, closely held businesses, and public companies. His ability to lead clients through sensitive, contentious issues with clarity and confidence has been central to his success.

He currently serves on the Los Angeles Superior Court’s MVP Mediation Panel and volunteers as a mediator, arbitrator, and temporary judge in both civil and family law matters. He is a participating neutral with ResolveLawLA, a program administered by the Beverly Hills Bar Association to assist with the court’s mandatory settlement program and serves as a Panel Mediator for the United States District Court, Central District of California. Mr. Reuben is also an experienced appellate advocate and fee arbitrator and has published commentary in the Los Angeles Daily Journal and Los Angeles Lawyer on topics ranging from litigation strategy to court reform.

As a mediator, Mr. Reuben brings both the perspective of a seasoned advocate and the steadiness of a neutral with deep legal and interpersonal experience. He believes that successful mediation depends on careful preparation, active listening, and knowing how to keep parties engaged in productive conversation. His practice offers the infrastructure and professionalism of a full-service legal operation with the responsiveness and thoughtfulness of a tailored, personal approach.
